Decadence

You thought you were the best
So much wiser than the rest:
God's gift of finance to the common man
With your Armani suits and oily Summer tan,
Moving swiftly through the senseless crowd
Waving your pride and singing it out loud!

You thought you had everything going
As the money kept on flowing
The market was skyrocketing everywhere
And you always had your share
Even on a cold and gloomy night,
You star was always shining bright!

But, guess what, life's cruel, you know?
Somebody cancelled you show
And you were left to linger,
Twisted round by everyone's finger...

You lived in Heaven, yet now you're in Hell
Looking at you today, no one would tell
That you had a palace in golden blocks
And more than twenty millions worth in stocks
Friends you thought real in thin air did vanish
When the sky collapsed and brought about your blemish...

You can still see the black dice rolling on the table...
They promised a lucky seven, but it was all a fable
When they finally stopped, snake eyes gave you a glance
And you knew you had just wasted your final chance
In a single heartbeat, the house won it all,
Leaving you speechless, ready for the fall...

Yes, life is cruel I know
But you alone cancelled your show
And now you sob and linger
Twisted round by everyone's finger...
